Get Your Rear In Gear is a national race sponsored by the Colon Cancer Coalition and we are one of 3 races in the state - Charlotte and Raleigh are the other two. The Race is held in March to celebrate Colon Cancer Awareness Month. Our date this year is March 31st with registration at 7:30, the Roger Fowler Walk For Hope at 8:30 and the timed 5K at 9:00. Bill Gibbs and Dr. Jerry Evans are the Race Coordinators. The purpose of the Race (and the Coalition) is to raise money and awareness for the treatment and prevention of colon cancer. Colon cancer is the 3rd most common cancer among men and women - prevention programs focus on healthy lifestyle habits to prevent it's development (nutrition, exercise), importance of knowing your family history  and the importance of getting a colonoscopy when you turn 50 or sooner based on your doctor's advice. Cancer patients often need help with medical bills and living expenses as living with cancer can be financially devastating. Organizing this Race helps to empower the patient, the family, the caregivers and the community with a disease that too often makes us all feel completely at its mercy.

 Packet pick-up will be at the new location for Omega Sports - Thurway on Stratford Road!!! We will be there from 4-7PM on Friday March 30th!
